In the past, there have been several instances of water leakages from unoccupied flats resulting in damage to neighbouring apartments and common areas.
Keeping this in mind, we have introduced a policy to ensure that all residents take the necessary precautions before leaving their apartments unattended for an extended period.
Please take the following precautions, before you leave the apartment unattended for many days.
- Inform the facility to get the gas valve closed by the gas mechanic
- If you can reach the master valve in the kitchen pipeline duct that supplies water to the kitchen, try and close that. Otherwise, close each inlet valve to Water purifier, Washing machine, Dishwasher etc
- Close the master valve in each bathroom. You can access it through the false ceiling
- Close the inlet valve to flush tanks in bathrooms. (This is a different water source)
- Switch off the main power in MCB/RCCB near the front door
- If you have an extended balcony, close the taps in that area and ensure no obstruction to the free water flow through the drain trap.
TIP
It is preferable to give one set of keys to friends or neighbours – this will help facilities to attend to emergency issues.
